Burton 69 V Solihull 0
Monday, November 09, 2009
Solihull have now played the top 2 in the league in successive weeks, and loyal spectators were forgiven for a strong sense of deja-vue in performance and scoreline.
Solihull once again found themselves facing a much larger pack and an opposition back line with National League experience, which brought immediate success as the visitors feeling of Groundhog day was set when they were 10-0 down within 5 minutes.
A high first half deficit could have so easily turned into a second half rout, but Solihull’s ever improving fitness and constant determination limited Burton to only 3 further scores after the break, once again Marc Webb, Jack Linnett & Dan O'Grady performed heroically in defence. With good possession from set piece a rarity, Solihull’s dogged loose play produced a series of turnovers and the visitors repeatedly threatened the oppositions try line in the last 10 minutes, but Burtons defence was as sound as their attack, and Solihull had to settle for a second game without a try.
Solihull are at home for a local Derby against camp hill on Saturday.
